If you are a JV runner, I encourage you to compete in one race this winter. The outdoor track season is fast and furious for JV racers with one race before Spring Break, then one race per week for 5 straight weeks after Spring Break.
If you are a varsity runner, be sure to practice PATIENCE. Some of you have plans to race through mid-June. I am doing my best with your training plan to keep things paced in a way that will allow you to train and race for that entire period. It is on you to keep the focus on building STRENGTH and AEROBIC capacity this January and February. Continue stretching after practice, weight training 2x per week, and hip and core exercises 2-3x per week. Remember that trainers are available to you after school if you feel any aches, twinges, or pain. They can help you find weaknesses for stretching and appropriate strengthening exercises to prevent injuries as well.
