Most of you have done an excellent job of putting in the miles this summer. If you have been keeping track, post your total mileage from the month of July as a comment on this post. Remember that to be eligible for mileage awards you need to keep track of your miles each day and post the total on the website each month.
The 2017 Olympus XC season begins tomorrow. I can't believe this is already my 6th year as the coach of this program. One thing that the past years have taught me is that each season is special and unique. By making the choice to be part of this team, you have the opportunity to influence the journey we take together this year. You will be challenged in new ways and excellence will be demanded of you. It will be hard, but if you have what it takes to stick with it you will find the journey to be worth it.
SCHEDULE 7/31 Official practices begin Monday morning. We will meet at 7:30 AM on the south side of the track. Practices will be from 7:30-9:30 AM. Great running today. Post your time. Coach Anna and I can't wait to officially kick the season off on Monday!
This is our last week of summer training before our official season begins on July 31st. Beginning on the 31st all athletes are required to be at every weekday practice. Any absences need to be excused ahead of time by the coaches. Athletes can email or text the coaches to inform them of any absences. Absences related to family vacation, church, and school are really the only things any athlete should be missing practice for. Work needs to be scheduled around practices. All athletes need to take care of their eligibility requirements between now and August 10th. Practices will continue to be at 7:30 am until the week of August 14. They will switch to 2:30 pm at that point.
1. Register for cross country on registermyathlete.com 2. Pay the participation, bus, AND team fees on the webstore (freshmen must pay in person at the school bookstore in the office or call the office to make an account) 3. Turn in a copy of your physical http://www.uhsaa.org/forms/forma.pdf (you can turn the physical in to Coach Mitchell at any practice before the time trial on August 10th) Great job in the 10K today! Everyone improved their time from last year (some by a significant amount!) and all of our first time competitors did great! That was a lot of fun to watch as we are getting ready to officially kick off our season on Monday. The boys and girls teams each finished 2nd in the high school division (Herriman won for the girls and Ogden won for the boys). Olympus results are below.

Remember to register for the Des News 10k by Wednesday. This week is a down week in mileage. This means you should run 3-5 miles less than the previous week if you have been training consistently. This allows your body to recover and prepare for future increases. We will be hitting our peak mileage in the upcoming weeks and we want to be ready for that.
